ORIGIN
story
Finitura is the brainchild of award-winning visual artist Shannon Doyle. After close to 20 years working in the fine art world and the construction industry, Shannon has merged them to present a unique decorative concept. A service that provides all things art within the context of the construction industry.
Finitura, meaning ‘finish’ in Italian, is a homage to the culture of decorating derived from the traditions passed down through generation of Italian Artisans. Shannon’s fascination with all things Italian began as a young art student when he discovered the work of the Renaissance. With the guidance of a mentor, Shannon began experimenting with the raw materials used to create some of the old mater paintings. These materials ranged from the sap of trees dissolved to create varnish, to egg that when combined with varnish and powered pigments create a painting medium known as Egg Tempera. The result of these early explorations into the traditional materials used by Artisan of the past was the discovery of Venetian Plaster, a decorative finish dating as far back as the Renaissance and even earlier.
For the next 15 years, whilst still producing original art, Shannon was determined to learn the techniques of the old-world Artisans. Finitura is the result. A complete visual art and decorative service that merges the fine art world with the world of high-end decorating.
Early projects include Laucala Island Resort in Fiji and Hellenika Restaurant on The Gold Coast. Shannon’s range of techniques and finishes soon had him working on high-end private homes in Toorak in Melbourne and exclusive Gold Coast addresses including Hedges Ave in Mermaid Beach, Sovereign Island, Hope Island, Jefferson Lane in Palm Beach, and most recently the sub-penthouse at the Chevron Renaissance, Surfers Paradise.
The success of Hellenika restaurant in particular saw Finitura come to fruition. To provide original art and bespoke decorative finishes all customised to the client’s needs was invaluable particularly in a commercial space. Some of the projects that resulted from this are The Fish House Burleigh Heads, AVVIA Restaurant Palm Beach, Justin Lane Burleigh Heads, Balboa Italian Restaurant Palm Beach, Hellenika 2.0, Miami Fish Market and most recently the exclusive Currumbin Valley wedding venue The Valley Estate.
Our range of finishes include a variety of polished plasters formulated for both internal and external use. These include the classic mirror finish of a traditional Venetian Plaster, the natural stone look of a classic Marmorino and the more robust contemporary look of Micro-cement. If its something bespoke you require in a polished plaster then we have a large range of patterns, metallic foils, and textures to take your finish to the next level.
Finitura offers a large range of decorative paint finishes developed using a range of traditional and contemporary techniques. These finishes include hand stencilled wallpapers, faux timbers and timber grains, faux marble and concrete effects and many bespoke modern finishes such pearl and metallic effects. We have a range of products specially formulated to replicate gold, copper rust, and patinas to achieve an antique finish.

If it’s something bespoke you desire, we provide complete artwork package for any space designed around existing colours and furnishings.
